Hi ! Let me ask you a question. Why do sharp part of knife hurts us but blunt side didn’t? If you didn’t know the answer then you are in aright place. Let’s dive into the topic .

The answer of the above question is due to pressure. Yes! That’s due to pressure in physics. What is Pressure?

In simple words you can say that Pressure is thrust in per unit area. The thrust is the force which is applied on a particular area. Another question is when is thrust applied?

Thrust is applied when the force is acting perpendicularly(90 degree) . That’s why the knife sharp end hurts more because the area of our palm is more and the knife is acting perpendicularly. The formula of pressure is THUST/AREA.

Let’s come to the unit system of pressure. What is the unit of Pressure?

It’s N/m² or Pascal. Therefore, we can say that 1N/1m² = Pascal. The another question is When do we define a pascal?

The simple answer is When 1 Newton of Thrust is applied on an area of 1m² we define it as pascal. Can you tell me How much is 1 Pascal?

That’s right! 1kpa = 1000 pa | 1mpa = 10⁶ pa.

Now it’s time for difference 😲😲

Force Vs Pressure

Here my blog ends! Ask doubts in comment below! Bye-Bye 👋👋
